NEWS RELEASE
GUELPH PUBLIC LIBRARY
*************************
Guelph Public Library seeks the community’s help to make its annual campaign a continued success. Launched in 2012, thanks to the help of many generous supporters, this annual appeal has grown into an essential part of the library’s fundraising efforts to support its most promising opportunities.

This year, we’re asking for your help to build the future of our library and community. Gifts will support two priority areas - a new Central Library and the Rosa Rattray Early Literacy Fund – fostering lifelong learning right from the beginning and improving community vitality for generations to come.

“As a community, we have a responsibility to nurture lifelong learning through all stages of life. This is one of the many roles of the library. By supporting this campaign, we are showing that Libraries Matter, and that our community is willing to invest in a vibrant Guelph now and into the future,” says CEO Steven Kraft.

For this year’s appeal, the library is honoured to once again partner with the Rosa Rattray Early Literacy Fund which supports early literacy initiatives at the library.

“We are so thrilled to partner with the Rattray family in memory of Rosa – someone who truly believed in the power of early literacy and instilled those values within her family and now future generations of Guelphites through her legacy. This partnership continues to bring valuable early literacy tools to youngsters in our community,” says Library CEO Steven.

The campaign will also support a new Central Library. Library staff and the City continue to work together on the Baker District redevelopment project to build a new Central Library – a much needed community resource for many.

Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our supporters, we’re closer than ever – and with your help, the possibilities are infinite. This new space will meet the future needs of Guelphites – including larger collections, greater accessibility and enhanced special use spaces, creating a modern 21st century library appropriate for a growing Guelph.

We can build a thriving community. Created together. Make your tax-deductible gift today at www.guelphpl.ca/annualgiving.
