New Guelph sign in Market Square will stay put and light up

A previous iteration of the sign was mobile, and moved around the city for various events

Get your selfie sticks ready, Market Square has a new, permanent addition.

A new lettered Guelph sign has been installed, and will be lit up for special occasions and events.

Unlike a previous iteration, the letters G-U-E-L-P-H will not move around to different locations around the city.

"It’s bigger and illuminated to allow for coordination with city events and lighting for days of acknowledgement," said mayor Cam Guthrie on Twitter.

While bigger than the portable, movable letters, this Guelph sign is much smaller than the ones put up at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto and the Byward Market in Ottawa.
