Nissan with flashing light won't stop for cops

GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP – On Oct. 24, 2016 at approximately 6:19 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received four driving complaints regarding a small, dark coloured Nissan with a yellow flashing light that was travelling southbound at a high rate of speed, passing unsafely and disobeying traffic signals on Highway 6 south of Fergus.

Officers observed the vehicle as it approached the City of Guelph and attempted to catch up to it. The vehicle continued southbound on Victoria Road at a high rate of speed and failing to stop at traffic lights.

The vehicle failed to stop for police who were following it with emergency lights and siren activated until it got blocked in by traffic at the intersection of Victoria Road at Elizabeth Street in the City of Guelph where the driver was taken into custody.

25-year-old Grant Hemstock of Guelph has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and stunt driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. 

He is scheduled to attend Guelph Criminal court on Dec. 13, 2016 to answer to the charges.
