No charges laid after dog attacks 9-year-old boy

CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has concluded their investigation into the dog bite incident that occurred on July 17, 2016 at a residence on Wellington Road 16 in Centre Wellington Township where a 9-year-old boy received serious injuries to his body.

After consultation with the Provincial Prosecutor from the Crown Attorney’s Office, it has been determined that charges will not be laid.

The owner willingly surrendered the dog to the Humane Society for euthanasia following the 10-day quarantine period.

The dog was examined by two veterinarians and determined to be a Bulldog mix which is not a restricted breed.
