A pinch of bad news for lobster lovers. The Rotary Club of Guelph has announced it is cancelling Lobsterfest 2022.

Marguerite Campbell and Marty Fairbairn, co-chairs of the Lobsterfest Committee 2022-2023, called it a 'difficult decision' in an email statement on Tuesday.

"We were very eager to have an in-person event once more, but due to continued COVID issues and concerns, and the importance of keeping everyone healthy in the fall and winter, we felt it appropriate to shutter our traditional Lobsterfest for this year," said the email.

"To everyone who so graciously purchased tickets already, we apologize deeply for the inconvenience and will be contacting you individually about ticket reimbursements."

The festival was set to be held at the Italian Canadian Club on Sept. 24 with proceeds going to benefit the Rotary Club of Guelph.
