One-day show and sale features work by local fibre artists

GUELPH HANDWEAVERS AND SPINNERS GUILD

One-of-a-kind handcrafted items will be on display and available for purchase Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Wellington County Museum when a group of local fibre artists hold their annual show and sale.

“The event marks the culmination of year-round preparations by members of the Guelph Guild of Handweavers and Spinners,” says guild president Mary-Anne Dalkowski. “Our annual Fall Fibres Show and Sale spotlights the best work of a very talented group of fibre artists.”

Accessories, decorative and functional works of art, seasonal goods and fibre art supplies and services will be featured. Demonstrations of spinning, weaving, lace-making and related techniques will take place throughout the day.

The museum is located at 536 Wellington County Road 18, between Fergus and Elora. The Fall Fibres Show and Sale will take place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. All members of the public are welcome.

The Guelph Handweavers and Spinners Guild includes more than 60 artisans from across the region. The guild meets and hosts special events throughout the year. 

Members have a variety of skills levels in weaving and spinning and related specialties. New members are welcome. For information, visit www.ghsguild.ca.
