NEWS RELEASE
GUELPH WISH FUND FOR CHILDREN
*************************
The Guelph Wish Fund for Children has launched an online auction that will raise essential funds to support kids in the community as they face heartbreaking medical challenges.

The auction includes a range of high-value new items including a red retro refrigerator, weekend in Muskoka, Fitbit fitness tracker, double hammock with stand and the Chairman’s Choice whiskey basket.

Every year on Father’s Day weekend, the Guelph Wish Fund runs its annual golf tournament which usually includes an on-site auction. This year’s auction is fully online and combines the golf and gala donations since the annual gala event has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

The significant funds raised at the golf tournament and gala over 30 years have been used to grant wishes which in the past have included celebrity meetings and dream vacations. More recently, fulfilling more practical and pressing needs, such as medical equipment, computers and building accessible backyard play structures for the child has been the priority.

“Now more than ever, these kids need a little extra help – and a little extra happiness. We missed our gala this year and, although the golf tournament is going ahead, pandemic protocols will make it a much different event.  But we’re confident that our community will step up online to get some great deals and help us support the 70 plus wish kids, on our roster,” said Joanne Grodzinski, Director of Operations.

“With over 80 quality items on view, we are confident that there will be something to appeal to everyone’s taste!” she said. Other items up for grabs include amazing products and services - food services, home and garden items, electronics – art, clothing and online classes.

Since 1984, thanks to the generous community, the Guelph Wish Fund for Children has fulfilled the wishes of over 420 deserving children, all of whom have demonstrated bravery beyond their years. The Guelph Wish Fund for Children would like to thank all of the community-minded corporate sponsors, supportive local business and many individuals for providing such a glorious array of items.

The auction opens on June 11 at 9 a.m. and closes at midnight on June 20.
