Over 100 Ontario Green local leaders call on Liberals to join the Greens as a response to the 'Draft Mike' open letter from the Ontario Liberals earlier this week.

“It's refreshing to see legacy party members realize the need for change,” said Nick Capra, president of the Parkdale–High Park (PHP) Greens, in a press release.

“The Ontario Liberals behind the ‘Draft Mike’ campaign seem to share our vision for Green values and leadership in Ontario, so why not join us.”

Mike Schreiner, Guelph MPP, Ontario Green Party leader told GuelphToday this week it could be a way to push back against the Ford Government if he was asked to run for Liberal leader.

Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) signatories pushed Mike Schreiner to run for Liberal leader in an open letter. Green members said there is a more elegant solution to work with Schreiner and the Greens.

“We agree that Mike’s integrity, leadership, and Green vision are needed now more than ever,” said Chris Faris Zabaneh, PHP organizer and former campaign manager, said in a press release.

“Just ask the tens of thousands of Greens who helped Mike become the one-man opposition at Queen’s Park. So Green members are extending an invitation to Graham’s Liberals to at least talk, even join us,” he said.

“Grassroots Greens hope our open response to ‘Draft Mike’ furthers the spirit of collaboration in politics and develops a new and lasting relationship with OLP members desiring real change,” said Capra.
