Public Health Ontario reported 476 new COVID cases today.
The latest updates noted 617 recoveries and 10 deaths that have occurred in the last month. Another four deaths that occurred more than a month ago were also included in today's report for a total of 14 deaths added to the cumulative total.
The Oct. 6 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:
- The new cases reported today include 294 people who are unvaccinated, 13 people who are partially vaccinated, and 141 people who are fully vaccinated. There are 28 cases where the vaccination status is unknown because of missing health card information.
- 4,579 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 4,734 yesterday.
- 280 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
- There are 118 unvaccinated people hospitalized (but not in ICU) for COVID-19 plus 11 partially vaccinated and 46 fully vaccinated people.
- There are 132 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 24 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
- There are 72 unvaccinated COVID patients in the ICU, plus seven partially vaccinated and 12 fully vaccinated patients.
- There are 84 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 19 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID.
- 10,649,353 Ontarians (about 72 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated and another 650,247 (four per cent of Ontario population) have a single dose of COVID vaccine. 87 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
- The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is nine cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 4.4 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 1.5 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
- The province reported 39,460 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.7 per cent positivity rate.
- Of the new cases reported today, 84 are from Toronto, 39 are from Peel, 18 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 44 are from York Region.
- Today's new cases include 82 individuals under 12 years old, 37 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 152 people between 20 and 39 years old, 132 people between 40 and 59 years old, 71 people between 60 and 79 years old, and two people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 589,517 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 575,167 recoveries and 9,771 deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, 30,032 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 5,869 of them were in intensive care units.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 4,001.1 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 26.8 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 8.2 per cent compared to the week of Sept. 20-26.
