Public Health Ontario reported 798 new COVID cases today for Sept. 8.
The latest updates noted 772 recoveries and three new deaths. There were seven deaths that occurred more than one month ago also reported today.
The Sept. 9 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- 497 cases in unvaccinated people (11 cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people), 57 cases in partially vaccinated people (7.9 per 100,000 partially vaccinated people), and 178 cases in fully-vaccinated people (1.6 cases per 100,000 fully-vaccinated people). The remaining 66 cases were people with unknown vaccination status because of missing health card information.
- Vaccination data for hospitalized cases has not yet been updated.
- 6,056 active, lab-confirmed cases, up from 6,040 yesterday.
- 365 COVID-positive people are currently hospitalized in Ontario.
- There are 160 COVID-positive patients in intensive care, plus another 25 patients who no longer test positive for COVID-19.
- 99 COVID patients are on ventilators and another 16 patients on ventilators no longer test positive for COVID-19.
- Of the COVID patients in the ICU, 113 are unvaccinated, seven are partially vaccinated, and eight are fully vaccinated.
- 10,109,582 Ontarians (about 68 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated and another 846,117 (six per cent of Ontario population) have a single dose of COVID vaccine. Approximately 26 per cent of the population (including children) is unvaccinated.
- The province reported 29,684 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 3.1 per cent positivity rate.
- Provincial labs have processed 17.4 million tests to date.
- Of the new cases reported today, 159 are from Toronto, 73 are from Peel, 37 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 72 are from York Region.
- Today's new cases include 136 individuals under 12 years old, 85 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 295 people between 20 and 39 years old, 190 people between 40 and 59 years old, 73 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 19 people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 572,130 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 556,495 recoveries and 9,579 deaths.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,883.1 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 35.4 cases per 100,000 people, which is up by 4.7 per cent from the week beginning Aug. 24.
