On a warm Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Park's Enabling Garden, Robert Munsch took the spotlight one last time.
The beloved Guelph children's author read a story for 130 people in attendance at the regular meeting of the Guelph Guild of Storytellers.
"This is the last time I'm going to tell stories," said Munsch, who has dementia, before reading from two of his classics, The Paper Bag Princess and Love You Forever.
He then left the event early.
"I think this man was born telling stories," said Sya VanGeest. "He is a Guelph treasure."
"I consider us very fortunate because he read our two favourites, The Paper Bag Princess and Love You Forever," said Kimberley Powley, who brought her daughters. "Up close and personal with Robert Munsch. How much better can it get?"
