A Guelph man was charged with impaired driving following a hit and run collision Thursday evening, report Guelph police.
Just after 6 p.m., a woman was sitting in her car in a plaza on Speedvale Avenue East when it was hit from behind by another vehicle. The woman exited her vehicle as the other car pulled away but was able to see the driver and photograph the licence plate. Minor damage was reported.
Officers located the other vehicle in a residential driveway a short distance away and spoke to a man who has a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath. He was arrested and taken to the police station where tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
A 29-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving and failing to stop after a collision.
