Partytown Guelph won't be partying on St. Patrick's Day after all.

The company, which owns several Downtown Guelph bars and restaurants, including The Palace, Bobby O'Brien's, McCabe's Irish Pub and Trapper's Alley, had come under fire for advertising on social media that it would be partying as usual on Tuesday to celebrate St. Paddy's Day?

Late Monday they had a change of heart, posting the following on their Facebook page:

"To our valued customers,

Amid COVID-19, the health and safety of our guests, the public and staff is our top priority.

For this reason, as per the advisement of Ontario health officials, Partytown Guelph will be shutting down operations for St. Patricks Day 2020. On Tuesday March 17, we encourage our community to stay safe and practice social distancing. Happy St. Patricks Day from the Partytown Family!

Staff and management."
