Pedestrian airlifted to hospital following east end collision (5 photos)

Incident occurred just after 9 a.m. on Hadati Road

A 77-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital Tuesday morning after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road.

Guelph Police spokesperson Cst. Josh Fraser said police received a call at 9:19 a.m. that a person had been struck on Hadati Road, just west of Auden Road on the city's east side.

"A 77-year-old female pedestrian was struck and as a result of that has serious injuries and has been transported to hospital outside of town," Fraser said.

An air ambulance was used to evacuate the woman.

Police were still on scene investigating the collision, which involved a Mazda SUV, late morning and Hadati Road between Auden Road and Upton Crescent was expected to remain closed until early afternoon as the investigation continued.

The name of the victim has not been released.
