Seven vehicle collision on College Avenue West

On Monday, May 30 at 5:13 p.m., police responded to a seven vehicle collision on College Avenue West near University Drive.

A black four door Mazda, that was westbound on College Avenue, veered around a white minivan attempting to turn eastbound on College Avenue from University and struck a Honda that was stopped in a line of traffic.

The collision sent the Honda into the rear of a Toyota forcing the Toyota into a Volkswagen.

The Mazda was then struck by a GMC that was following behind it.

While the collision was occurring, the white minivan reversed backwards and struck a Mitsubishi that was stopped behind it and then left the scene.

There were a total of ten people occupying the involved vehicles, none of which reported any injuries.

Both the Mazda and Honda sustained major damage and were towed from the scene.

The other four vehicles, although damaged, were driven away.

Total damage was estimated at $40,000.

Two of the involved drivers, a 26-year-old female from Mississauga, and a 40-year-old male from Guelph, were both issued summonses for the offence of Careless Driving.

College Avenue was closed for almost two hours for the investigation and removal of the vehicles.
