Police asking for public's help regarding body found in December

TOWN OF ERIN – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit along with the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are urging members of the public who may have any information concerning Frederick John Hatch to contact police.

The last reported sighting of Hatch was on December 16, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the area of West Hunt Club Road and Merivale Road, Nepean.   

Hatch was known to hitchhike and it is believed that he left the area of eastern Ontario on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.  

Hatch's body was discovered on December 17, 2015 east of the 10th Line off Wellington Road 124, Town of Erin, shortly before 7 a.m.

Hatch is described as a white male, 65-years of age, approximately 167 cm (5’6”) tall, heavier build, grey downward curving moustache and grey shoulder length hair. 

He was wearing blue jeans, a dark hoodie with a jean vest. The vest has Disney characters pictured on the back. 

He also carried a red and black duffle bag.

Anyone who may have seen or had contact with Hatch is asked to call police using the toll free tip line 1-844-677-5010.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip on-line at www.csgw.tips. You may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2,000.

The OPP always encourages citizens to be mindful of their own personal safety by ensuring their homes and vehicles are always locked. Crime prevention is a shared responsibility.
