A little more than five years since the legalization of cannabis, most Village Media readers think that it was a good idea, and about half have used it recreationally at some point, or are open to the idea.
We ran two online polls this week about cannabis: one asked about your experience with it, and the other about your view of legalization:
Women, interestingly, were more likely to think that legalization had been a bad idea:
Women were also more likely to say that they had no experience with it and no interest in trying it in the future. Women were a little more likely than men to say that they had started using only after legalization; this matches the results of other polls showing a group of women who were open to cannabis in general, but uncomfortable dealing with the illegal market when weed was still illegal.

... and also to political party affiliation, with Liberal, Green and NDP supporters in one cluster and PCs in the other:
When it comes to use, PC and Liberal supporters look very similar. The difference appears to be that a larger segment of Liberals favour legalization, while having no interest in using cannabis personally.
Readers born outside Canada were less open to using cannabis:
Mashing the two polls up, we see a substantial group of non-users who support legalization. We also see a small but interesting group of people who use cannabis but oppose legalization.
For our fun random mashup this week, we combine experience with cannabis with attitudes to the future of the monarchy. Support for a Canadian republic correlates with openness to cannabis, though to be fair there is a substantial group who are happy with both their King and their weed.
