There were 147 complaints filed against governments and agencies in Guelph during the last fiscal year, notes Ontario Ombudsman’s office in its annual report, which is nearly double the number seen a year prior.

Between April 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022 the provincial watchdog received 14 complaints about the City of Guelph’s services, council and committees, though the nature of those complaints wasn’t disclosed.

However, the report notes there were no investigations launched involving municipalities in Ontario during that time. Rather complaints were generally resolved within two weeks.

There were seven complaints made against the city in 2020-2021.

An additional 47 complaints were filed against the University of Guelph this past year (up from six), with 25 more related to Family & Children's Services of Guelph and Wellington County (up from 15).

There were seven complaints filed against the Upper Grand District School Board (an increase of one) and one against Wellington Catholic District School Board, just as in 2020-2021.
