R-E-S-P-E-C-T coming to Guelph fundraising show

The music of the late Aretha Franklin will be front and centre at a special benefit show next month.

Respect: A Guelph Tribute to Aretha Franklin takes place at Royal City Church on Quebec Street on Feb. 2 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The show is a fundraiser for the Guelph Black Heritage Society as it raises funds to try and build an accessible ramp for Heritage Hall.

The event, which kicks off Black History Month, will feature local musicians Bry Webb, Steph Yates, D’eve Archer, Nicolette Hoang, Jessy Bell Smith, Tannis Slimmon, Joni Nehrita, Alanna Gurr and Scott Merritt performing the songs of Franklin.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at 10C shared space at 42 Carden St., online and at the door.

Price is $25 in advance, $30 at the door. For students it's $15  in advance and $20 at the door.
