NEWS RELEASE
GUELPH TOOL LIBRARY
*************************
On Saturday, Aug. 29, community members are invited to the Outdoor Repair Cafe.

The Guelph Tool Library is excited to announce that the popular Repair Cafes are back with an outdoor event. We would like to invite the community members to the this Repair Cafe on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Harcourt United Church (87 Dean Ave., Guelph) from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 pm. Visitors can bring their broken electronics, electrical appliances and clocks, damaged clothing, bikes that needs repairs and tuneup and jewelry that need fixing. Our volunteers who are expert in fixing these items will also teach visitors the process of trouble shooting and fixing items.

We would like to kindly ask the visitors not to bring the following items to the Repair Cafe: items which need welding, refrigeration equipment (coolers, bar fridges, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, etc.), gas powered equipment (lawn mowers, line trimmers, chain saws, etc.), items operating on power greater than 120 volts and tools and appliances from other countries operating on different currents.

Our aim is to offer a fun but also safe experience for our community, and we are taking lots of measures to make that happens. We kindly ask you to wear a mask at this event and practice social distancing.

This event is supported by funding from the Canadian Red Cross and Government of Canada through the Emergency Support for Community Organizations Program.

The Repair Cafe Guelph is a project of the Guelph Tool Library, started operating as of August 2016. Repair Cafes run bi-monthly at various locations throughout the city. The events run entirely by volunteers and rely on community donations to offer free repair services. Every year, Repair Cafe Guelph serves about 300 visitors, approx. 500 items are fixed and 550 kg of waste is diverted from the landfill!
