Tickets are selling fast for the Guelph Youth Music Centre’s (GYMC) 15th anniversary Gala on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. The evening features a performance by internationally-renowned tenor Richard Margison with pianist Brahm Goldhamer.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since the GYMC opened its doors,” commented Gabriella Currie-Ziegler, executive director of the Guelph Youth Music Centre. “We want to celebrate in style, so the 15th anniversary gala will be very special with world-renowned tenor Richard Margison. I highly recommend buying tickets early to ensure your seat.”

Canadian tenor Richard Margison performs regularly in many of the world’s leading opera houses, such as the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Canadian Opera Company, the Royal Opera House and many more. Margison is known for his ringing top notes and spine-tingling power. He was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2001 to honor his contribution to musical life in Canada and in recognition of his presence on the international stage. The performance by Richard Margison is graciously supported by Vesterra.

The gala will also feature local food and wine vendors, serving many tasty savory and sweet treats, as well as a silent auction with many items that will be in demand.

There will also be a raffle for a Travel Certificate, which entitles the winner to a round trip in Comfort Class for two passengers between Guelph and Montreal. The certificate has a retail value of $818 and is courtesy of VIA Rail Canada. The second prize is $250.

Tickets include all food, wine, beer and other beverages, as well as the Richard Margison with Brahm Goldhamer performance. A tax receipt for a portion of the ticket price will be issued. Super early bird tickets are $75 each (until Sept. 30); early bird tickets are $90 each (Oct. 1-17) and regular ticket price is $110 each (Oct. 18-28). Established in 1992, the GYMC is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to education, enrichment and fostering the development of youth through music and the arts.
