R.I.D.E. stop leads to impaired charge

GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP – On March 17, 2016 at approximately 3:20 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program at the intersection of Jones Baseline and Eastview Road, Guelph-Eramosa Township. 

A man driving a 2003 Ford entered the program and officers believed that he had consumed alcohol. 

A roadside screening test was administered which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

55-year-old Scott Mcintyre of Eden Mills has been charged with over 80 mgs, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on April 22, 2016.
