Volunteers on three different shifts were busy packing Christmas hampers at the Guelph Salvation Army Citadel on Gordon Street Wednesday.
This year the Salvation Army will distribute 1,100 Christmas hampers to people and families in need.
There are hampers for single people, hampers for families and special cultural hampers for Guelph residents with food items that recognize their potentially different diet.
Turkeys, chickens, cheese, fruit, cookies, carrots, potatoes, corn, gravy mix and a variety of other products all find their way into the hampers.
They will be distributed throughout the city on Thursday with help from other volunteers and the Guelph Fire Department.
The food items in the hampers are purchased primarily through the Salvation Army's kettle campaign.
