The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games is thrilled to announce that Festival President, David Radley, was awarded a Senate of Canada 150 Medal celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the first sitting of the Senate at our 2018 Annual General Meeting.

The following is a news release issued by the Senate of Canada:

The Honourable Rob Black, Independent Senator for Ontario, is pleased to announce further recipients of the Senate of Canada 150 Medal celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the first sitting of the Senate on Nov. 6, 1867.

The medal was created to mark this important occasion and to give Honourable Senators the opportunity to recognize Canadians who are thoroughly involved and have made significant contributions in their communities.

The medals are being awarded to Canadians or permanent residents who, through generosity, dedication, volunteerism and hard work, make their hometowns, communities, regions, provinces or territories a better place to live.

“I am honoured to be a part of celebrating the Senate of Canada’s 150th Anniversary,” said Black. “I look forward to recognizing the hard work and commitment of these community volunteers who do so much for our communities. Their efforts and the efforts of many others, make our communities great places to live, work and play.”

Recipients will be presented with the Senate of Canada 150 Medal at recognition ceremonies throughout the months of November and December.
