A Perth County male faces charges related to a social media video posted earlier this month.

The video, which appears to depict another male making racist comments and uttering threats in downtown Guelph, was posted on social media and viewed more than two million times before it was taken down. The female who recorded and posted the video reports she has received threatening comments from a relative of the male whose voice can be heard on the video.

On Tuesday a 28-year-old Perth County male turned himself in to the Guelph police and has been charged with criminal harassment and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He will appear in a Guelph court Feb. 8.
