Several impaired charges on county roads in last week

The following recent charges have been provided by Wellington County OPP.

- On March 7, approximately 1 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. Initial reports indicated that one of the vehicles had fled the scene and there were no injuries.  As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old Guelph woman was charged with failing to remain at the scene of a collision and operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

- On March 8, approximately 3 p.m. police received a report of possible impaired driver on Wellington Road 7, north of Alma. Officers located the vehicle and as a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with impaired operation and drive with cannabis readily available.

- On March 9, approximately 8:10 a.m. an officer initiated a traffic stop on a grey pickup truck on Wellington Road 109 east of Arthur. As a result of the investigation a 54-year-old Grand Valley man has been charged with impaired operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

- On March 9, approximately 2:30 p.m. police initiated a traffic stop on Metcalfe Street, Elora. As a result of the investigation, a 60-year-old Guelph man was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order, drive suspended, and drive with an open container of liquor.

*All accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph, unless otherwise noted.

Anyone charged with Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Refusing to Provide a Sample of breath receives a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.
