Six area companies each awarded $30,000 in seed funding

Grants to be used to expand their operations, access new markets, attract investment and create jobs

Six newer Guelph companies have each been awarded up to $30,000 in seed funding from Bioenterprise Corporation and Innovation Guelph.

They are six of 24 Southern Ontario companies receiving funding to help them expand their operations, access new markets, attract investment and create jobs in the region, said a press release.

The local companies are:

  • Savvy Farmer: a Guelph based online resource for agricultural pest control
  • Cupanion: a company that sells and promotes reuseable drinking containers
  • Soleluna Cosmetics: makers of natural skin care products
  • Stratodynamics Aviation Inc.: a Guelph start-up that does solar and wind business development
  • WaterfFrmers: an agriculture consutling company
  • Youth Circus Project: Wellington which does interactive circus-based inclusive workshops and presentations

The money is for non-repayable seed financing, along with coaching and mentorship. They join 65 previous recipients who were selected for first and second rounds of seed funding in 2016 and 2017.

The new recipients are expected to use the funding, along with their matching funds, for branding and marketing; prototyping and product piloting; Business-to-Business (B2B) sales, business development, process optimization, and to help advance market opportunities.
