Local health officials are warning people to be particularly wary of fentanyl circulating in the community, following six reported drug poisonings within an hour Friday morning.
“Most situations indicated the involvement of fentanyl, with red fentanyl having been mentioned at least once,” states a health alert issued by Wellington Guelph Drug Strategy (WGDS) via social media. “None of the events resulted in death.”
WGDS is urging those using substances to mitigate their risk of a poisoning overdose by carrying naloxone, never using substances alone and starting with a lower dose when ingesting a new substance.
