THE ARBORETUM, UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH

Do you wish you could voyage to other planets or learn more about the Milky Way or about the heroes, gods and monsters of the sky? Join guest instructor Trevor Chandler at The Arboretum March 12 and 13, 2019 as he takes you on a flight through the sky or allows you to observe the night sky from any place on earth at any time. He will be using his planetarium which will be set up in the Arboretum Centre.
The planetarium consists of a portable inflatable dome that is 5 m (16 feet) in diameter and 3.2 m (10.5 feet) high. Inside the dome, a state-of -the-art digital projector displays bright, high resolution images of the night sky in a 360-degree immersive environment. From inside the planetarium we are able to observe the sky from Guelph, or any place on Earth, at any time. We are also able to fly out into space, and travel to other worlds such as the Moon, Mercury, Mars, or Jupiter’s strange moon Europa.
During March Break The Arboretum is offering three programs: Voyage to the Planets on the evening of Tuesday, March 12, 2019; Heroes, Gods and Monsters the afternoon of Wednesday, March 13, 2019 and The Milky Way and Beyond the evening of Wednesday, March 13, 2019. The programs are one hour each. You can book one, two or all three of them as they are all different. Families are welcome and encouraged.
The registration fee is $15.00 per person plus H.S.T. plus a $10 fee per transaction (you can register multiple people in one transaction). Please register by March 4, 2019 to help ensure there are enough people to run the program. Registration and further information is online.
