In anticipation of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, the city is preparing to close down a key intersection in the downtown. Sections of Wyndham and Macdonell streets will be closed to traffic from 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 to 4 a.m. the next day.

“Similar to Guelph’s yearly Safe Semester closures in September, the closure supports a safe and enjoyable environment downtown for businesses, residents and students,” states a news release.

Macdonell will be closed from the municipal parking lot east of Norfolk Street to the west parkade near Woolwich Street. Wyndham will be closed between Carden and Cork streets.

Any vehicles parked on the closed roads after 9 p.m. will be towed at the owner’s expense, the release warns.
