NEWS RELEASE
UPPER GRAND DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
**************************
Elementary and secondary students in the Upper Grand District School Board are joining together to take part in a tree-planting initiative. On Oct. 4, students from Centennial CVI’s Community Environmental Leadership Program (CELP) will be joined by grade 8 students from Rickson Ridge Public School and Green Team members from Kortright Hills Public School.

Together, the students will plant 1,500 trees. The event is part of the CELP tree plant initiative, now in its 12th year.

To date, students and staff in the program have planted more than 35,000 trees in partnership with Green Legacy and the City of Guelph. The project takes place on City land across from Starkey Hill Conservation Area. Tree planting is part of a project designed to help protect the aquifer in Arkell, where Guelph gets approximately 60-70 per cent of its water supply.

Event Details:

  • Date: Friday Oct. 4, 2019
  • Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Location: 735 Arkell Road, Puslinch (this is the meeting point, the event will take place across the road from Starkey Hill Conservation Area)
