Guelph Police say they have made one of its largest fentanyl seizures ever after two people were arrested and 275 grams of fentanyl seized early Thursday morning.
"On August 27, 2020 at approximately 2:35 a.m. a traffic stop was conducted on the Hanlon Expressway near Wellington Street in the City of Guelph. Police were aware that one of the occupants was wanted for a number of outstanding charges. Once placed under arrest police searched one of the males subsequent to arrest and located approximately 275 grams of Fentanyl, having an approximate street value of $30,000," said a police news release.
A struggle ensued with the driver of the vehicle and a conducted energy weapon was used to bring a male under control. He was arrested without further incident.
A 55-year-old Guelph man and a 35-year-old Guelph man were arrested and held pending a bail hearing.
Both were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. The 35 year old was additionally charged with breaching a court order and the 55 year old for obstructing police.
