Guelph is home to some of the worst roads in western Ontario, a CAA survey has found.

City roads took three of the top five spots in this section of the province during the annual CAA Worst Roads competition, announced Tuesday, but didn’t make the top 10 list for all of Ontario.

At the top of the regional list for 2022 is Speedvale Avenue West, followed by York Road in the number two spot. Speedvale Avenue East comes in at number five.

The other two roads are found in London.

“Poor roads affect us all. They make us late, cause delivery delays, contribute to congestion and, most importantly, can endanger those who use them,” states a post on the CAA website. “Voting for Ontario's Worst Roads helps shine the spotlight on where more work is needed. Your feedback helps us start a dialogue with the government to help pave the way for safer roads across Ontario.”

The Worst Roads list is based on voting from Ontario drivers, cyclists, transit riders and pedestrians.

In addition to Guelph, the western region includes Brant, Huron, Middlesex, Norfolk, Oxford, Perth County, Waterloo Region and more.

The title of worst road in the province went to Barton Street East in Hamilton.
