Centre Wellington man killed in Thursday morning collision near Elora

Two others taken to hospital with injuries

ELORA — A resident of Centre Wellington is dead following a crash involving two vehicles just southwest of Elora Thursday morning.

Wellington County OPP were called to the crash involving two vehicles around 6:30 a.m. on Wellington Road 21, between 6th Line East and Weisenberg Road in the Township of Centre Wellington.

OPP spokesperson Cst. Josh Cunningham said one person died in the collision, which occurred on a curve in the road, and two other people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"Two sedans had collided in what appeared to be head-on (collision)," said Cunningham. "Since that time one driver has been pronounced deceased, a local man."

That driver was pronouced dead at the scene of the crash, he said.

Cunningham said identification of the deceased was being witheld pending notification of next of kin.

Wellington County Road 21 is expected to remain closed throughout the morning as police conduct their investigation. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
