There are just a few tickets left for Banjofest, the annual Guelph music festival featuring an eclectic line-up of banjo suffused music.
The festival takes place March 8 to March 10 at Silence on Essex Street, featuring 10 acts over three days.
Several styles of banjo music will be represented, from bluegrass and old-time through African Kora (an ancestor of the modern banjo) and western swing ("cowbilly") to banjo backed singer-songwriters and Jugband Canadiana, say organizers in a news release.
The Friday evening session is sold out and there are about a dozen or so tickets remaining for each of the two Saturday sessions: Chris Quinn and Joey Wright (Bluegrass), Chris Coole and Ivan Rosenberg (Banjo and Dobro) and Over The Moon (Western Swing) in the afternoon (2 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and Maple Mustard (Old-Timey Folk), Champions of Democracy (Ian Bell, Teilhard Frost and Minnie Heart) and Lonesome Ace Stringband Play John Hartford in the evening (8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
There are lots of tickets available for the Sunday afternoon session featuring Tannis Slimmon and Lewis Melville (Singer-songwriters), Val Sissokho (African Kora), Tom Power and John Showman.
