Traffic stop with bicycle leads to arrest

On March 5, 2016 at 1:54 a.m., the Guelph Police attempted to stop a male riding a bicycle downtown without any lighting.

The male failed to stop and rode through an alleyway.

Police located the male in the Baker Street parking lot and were able to stop him.

Investigation determined that he was breaching a condition of his probation and he was arrested.

A subsequent search located a loaded black BB pellet gun, the male has a condition of probation to not possess this.

Further investigation then determined that the bicycle he was riding had been reported stolen on September 26, 2015.

Damien Hitchcock-Hurst, 19 years old of Guelph, has been charged with possession of stolen property, weapons dangerous, obstruct police and three counts of breach of probation.

He will appear in court on March 22, 2016.
