Two fishermen charged with trespassing

GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP - On March 8, 2016 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding two people ice fishing on Guelph Lake with unsafe ice conditions. 

Police responded and were able to get the attention of the fishermen. 

They walked to the shore and two males were charged with trespassing since ice fishing is not permitted on Guelph Lake. 

The Guelph Fire Department attended also in case they were needed to perform a rescue. 

Ice conditions are rapidly changing with this mild weather and rain. Please stay off the ice. 

Ice related rescue has the potential to put the lives of many first responders at great risk.
