Two Guelph residents charged after police find stolen vehicle, drugs in Kitchener

Police also deployed a conducted energy weapon when one of the suspects allegedly tried to access a knife inside the vehicle

KITCHENER – Two Guelph residents face charges after Waterloo Regional Police located a stolen vehicle in Kitchener.

It was spotted Sunday morning, parked in the area of Bridge Street East and Tyson Drive.

During the investigation, there was a physical altercation and one of the individuals inside the vehicle allegedly tried to access a knife. Officers were able to deploy a conducted energy weapon and both suspects were taken into custody.

Police seized suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl. They also found a large amount of stolen property in the vehicle, including power tools and scrap metal.

A 42-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, as well as two counts of possession of drugs.

A 44-year-old man also faces a long list of charges, including possession of stolen property over $5,000 (two counts), possession of drugs (two counts), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with intent to resist arrest, and failing to comply with a release order (three counts).

No one was injured as a result of the incident.
