UGDSB hires a new superintendent of education

One of six superintendents the UGDSB, she replaces longtime administrator Carlo Zen, who is retiring

The Upper Grand District School Board has hired Peggy Blair as a superintendent of education.

Blair, who has decades of experience in public education, is currently serving as a supervisory officer with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board.

She replaces Carlo Zen, who is retiring.

The board has six superintendents of education.

Blair also serves as the Chair of the Minister’s Advisory Council on Special Education.

Prior to her role in Hamilton Blair worked in various school boards as a supervisory officer, coordinator of special education, principal, vice-principal and teacher. 

"Peggy is a proud champion for public education, who sincerely appreciates the ongoing, collective efforts of public education systems to serve students that have been historically underserved," the UGDSB said in a news release.

She starts Sept. 1.

The Upper Grand District School Board serves more than 35,000 students through 65 elementary schools and 11 secondary schools in the City of Guelph, County of  Wellington and County of Dufferin. It also employs 4,000 teaching and support staff.
