Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph is bringing its signature fundraiser – the Ultimate Habitat House Party – back to the Guelph community.

“We heard from our community of supporters that the House Party was missed by many in 2018,” says Sharron Riley-Persson, director, Resource Development and Volunteer Services. “So we’ve brought it back, with all of its glamour and excitement!”

Presenting Sponsor Miller Thomson LLP and Party Sponsor Guelph and District Association of Realtors, among many other local businesses and organizations, will be present for an evening filled with delectable food and wonderful entertainment. Guests will mingle, dine, and dance the night away, all while supporting Habitat’s mission of affordable homeownership.

Music will be provided by Juneyt, and the endearingly termed “Habitat House Band." Layne, The Auctionista, is sure to have all guests on their feet, engaged and ready to make a real difference in just one evening.

The final eight units of the 28-unit Cityview Village community in Guelph are slated to be completed in mid-2020 and the affiliate is looking forward to the remediation of the former IMICO site which will accommodate affordable housing options. Plans are underway for a multi-unit build in Dufferin.

Habitat WDG also recently hosted Guelph’s and Wellington County’s first Affordable Housing Symposium. Over 35 organizations met over two days to explore opportunities to advance affordable housing.

Details are available here. Habitat is planning a second round of discussions in November to bring new models of cooperation forward that will offer solutions to the housing spectrum – from homelessness to affordable rent and ownership.

“It takes community to build a village,” says Steve Howard, CEO. “With the support of local businesses and community members we can continue to build and advocate for affordable homeownership. Because everyone deserves a safe and decent place to live.”

The Ultimate Habitat House Party will take place at the Grand Guelph Banquet and Event Centre in Guelph on Friday, Nov. 1. Tickets are $150 each. For tickets and more information, click here.
