Up and Running Guelph is currently signing up participants for its first-ever virtual race fundraiser.
Founded four years ago by a group of Guelph women, the group says its running and walking programs have improved the lives of over 300 women in the community by imporving mental health and well-being through inclusive, nature-based walking and running programs within a supportive community.
Pick Up The Pace! is a new virtual fundraiser that the group says will expand its reach and continue to provide quality programs. The goal is to fundraise $7,500.
"Today, we are growing in order to support the mental health journey of even more individuals in our community," Up and Running said in a press release. "We hope that through these funds, we are able to emphasize our core values of compassion, inclusivity, collaboration, community, resilience, and commitment."
Participants can walk or run on a trail, sidewalk or treadmill. The distance can be spread over the course of a week or done in one go. The event will kick off on Sept. 26 and come to a close on Oct. 4.
"Those of you who register before Sept. 11 will be sent a race kit including a race day buff in time for the event," said the news release.
The group is seeking a minimum fundraising goal of $100 and fundraising efforts continue until Oct. 4.
