Starting on Thursday, a selection of vintage warplanes will be flying overhead for three days of formation flight training, with flights expected throughout the Region of Waterloo, communities between Stratford and Woodstock and the north end of Guelph.

Weather permitting, the planes will be taking flight between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily over the three-day clinic, ending Saturday evening.

Douglas Sheppard, team coordinator of the Waterloo Warbirds, said depending on the wind the planes will be taking off towards Guelph or using the airspace to turn around for landing.

“The people primarily in the west end of Guelph and maybe the southwest end of Guelph may be hearing a lot of noise over the next few days,” said Sheppard.

All participants will be practicing health and safety protocols for the duration of the clinic, following measures recommended by the local Public Health unit and Health Canada.

To help ensure regular airport operations remain smooth and to maintain the health and safety of airport staff, visitors, and clinic participants, the Waterloo Warbirds are asking that  spectators watch from their homes, follow local directives on social distancing, and refrain from coming to the airport.
