The Brenda Lewis and Gayle Ackroyd Vocal Harmonies Duo will perform at Guelph Civic Museum Friday, July 27 as part of the museum’s Fourth Friday concert series.
Lewis is a seasoned, versatile jazz vocalist. Lewis’ began her career in the roots and R&B genres, and quickly became a regular featured performer at regional shows such as the Arkell Schoolhouse Gallery Concert Series and Hillside Festival. This year, Lewis was featured in the '25 Years of Singing' Celebration at Guelph Youth Music Centre.
Her six-year music partnership with Ackroyd marks a return to those music genres.
Ackroyd is a guitar slinger and blues singer. Originally from Brampton, Ackroyd has been writing and making music since her teens. Her identity has always been firmly planted in folk/roots, country, and blues. Ackroyd and her husband run a music school from their home.
Lewis and Ackroyd’s vocal harmonies take the audience on a journey through 1940s to 1960s pop, rock, jazz and R&B to more recent country, folk and bluegrass, including originals written by Ackroyd.
Admission to the Civic Museum on Fourth Fridays is free after 5 p.m., with concert beginning at 7 p.m.
