'We love you and please come home,' pleads father of missing Guelph teen

Ashley Reeds,15, has been missing since Thursday, prompting her family, friends and community members to lead a search to find her

It has been four days since Grant Reeds has seen his 15-year-old daughter Ashley Reeds, as the father concerned for her wellbeing spoke outside of Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute Monday to community members.

Ashley was last seen at GCVI on Paisley Street at about 3:30 p.m on Thursday.

“What’s going through my head is I am worried about my daughter. I feel if the amount of pressure we have put on downtown Guelph, that we haven’t seen her,  she’s in a car or house somewhere and we need to find her,” said Grant.

The Reeds family, along with friends and concerned community members, met outside the school to organize a search party aimed at visiting spots Ashley was known to frequent.

Grant said that Ashley does not have a phone. She does, however, have a school tablet that once turned on can be used as a tracking device.
At the time of the announcement, she had yet to turn it on.

“Nobody knows anything – that’s why we are doing this we got to find her,” said Grant. “It’s been way too long.”

Guelph police confirmed earlier Monday they were still searching for Ashley.

At the time of the announcement, Ashley had yet to reach out to any of her friends or post to social media.

Kate Nixon, a community member and activist who helped organize a search for Ashley, said she wanted to take action and look for Ashley and find any possible solutions to helping locate her whereabouts.

“We’re going to be searching her favourite spots, areas where her family members live, and we also are going to look where you would typically where someone goes missing, so like transit,” said Nixon. “We don’t know anything and we have no idea of the circumstances surrounding this disappearance, so we’re just honestly looking at any place we can to try and get some answers.”

Ashley is described as a white female, 5’6” and light brown hair usually worn in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing a white hoodie, jeans, pink running shoes and carrying a navy blue backpack and beige cloth computer bag.

Anyone with information about Ashley’s location is asked to call Detective Constable Scott Biser at 519-824-1212, ext. 7131, or email [email protected].
