The Wellington Water Watchers and its supporters will deliver a petition today to the office of the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.

The group has collected more than 110,000 signatures in favour of the province phasing out the practice of permitting corporations to bottle water.

Arlene Slocombe, executive director of Wellington Water Watchers, said the group of about 46 people is going to travel by bus to Toronto to deliver the signatures.

“We are conscious of the paper that 100,000 signatures would mean, so instead we are delivering some boxes with a USB key with all the signatures on it — but the boxes will represent the amount that (petition) would have taken up,” said Slocombe.

The group will do a photo op in front of the Nestle Waters sign in Aberfoyle on its way to Toronto.
