When will the actor who plays Murdoch arrive? The mystery is solved (6 photos)

The show's eleventh season premieres September 25 on CBC

A four-hour wait was totally worth it for a Guelph woman and her daughter hoping to catch a glimpse of the stars of CBC’s Murdoch Mystery, currently filming in Guelph.

Yannick Bisson, AKA William Murdoch, arrived Thursday morning to be filmed in a scene photographed in St. George’s Anglican Church in downtown Guelph.

This was the first time Murdoch Mysteries fan Linda Harde has been able to be near the set of one of her favourite shows, soon to be in its eleventh season.

Harde and her daughter Savanah arrived at the church at 6:45 this morning, hoping to see members of the show’s main cast.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Bisson pulled up in the passenger seat of a car, waved at fans and walked into a back door of the church.

A few minutes later, Bisson walked toward fans lined up on the grass and appeared to take cell phone photographs or video of them.

Fans began belting out, “It’s Murdoch!”

“His name is Yannick,” another fan admonished.

About two dozen fans stood outside the church and along the Heffernan Street Footbridge for the one-day shoot.

The church grounds were a hive of activity throughout the morning, as crew moved various equipment out of the many trailers lining Woolwich Street.

Harde didn’t start watching Murdoch Mysteries when it first began to air, saying she became a fan after the show had been on a few seasons.

“When I used to see the commercials for it, I was like ‘aww geez, it’s Canadian TV’. Then when I started watching it I was pleasantly surprised and then I was hooked,” she said.

This is the fifth time in recent years that the show has filmed in Guelph.

Previous scenes were shot at Goldie Mill, The University of Guelph and twice on Douglas Street.

After four hours of waiting to see the star, Harde and her daughter decided to head for a quick lunch before planning on returning later in the day to see if they could catch a glimpse of others in the cast.

Hard said was happy to have come and shared the experience of seeing Bisson in person with her daughter.

“It was worth the wait, it was absolutely worth the wait,” she said.
