The Sheepdogs join City and Colour, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Alice Merton, A Tribe Called Red, The Joel Plaskett Emergency, Men Without Hats, Mix Master Mike and many more for Riverfest Elora, August 16, 17 and 18th.
Left without an opening night headliner after Jessie Reyez reluctantly had to cancel her August dates as a result of an injury suffered during a recent performance, the team at Riverfest Elora scrambled, got on the phone and called in a huge favour.
The Sheepdogs (Saskatoon, SK), who performed at the festival in 2016, have become true friends of Riverfest over the years and jumped at the chance to help the festival out of a tough spot.
“It’s hard to find the right headliner for a festival under normal circumstances, let alone having to find one with just over 2 weeks to go!” says Spencer Shewen, one of the Artistic Directors at Riverfest Elora. “Luckily, our good friends, the Sheepdogs, were willing to help us out and jump in at the last minute!”
Ontario’s “big-little” festival continues its run as one of Canada’s premier boutique festivals, offering top tier headliners, up-and-coming indie bands, local artisans, food trucks and craft brews, all within a majestically natural setting along the banks of the famed Grand River in Elora — Ontario’s most beautiful village.
Heading into the 11th annual instalment, Riverfest Elora, which started as a backyard festival in 2009 with an attendance of around 700 people, has grown exponentially in recent years to see crowds of more than 5,000 a day over the August weekend.
