This coming weekend, Silence is excited to present two concerts performed by celebrated Toronto ensembles.

On Friday Nov. 23 at 8 p.m., Near East will bring their unique blend of world music. The trio is comprised of Ernie Tollar (sax / bansuri / ney), Demetri Petsalakis (oud / guitar) and Ravi Naimpally (tabla). From Greek, Middle Eastern and East Indian musical traditions, Near East harvests a fresh sound; familiar yet surprising, says a news release.

Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. pianist and composer Tania Gill is joined by percussionist Germaine Liu and bassist Victor Bateman to perform an improvised jazz concert followed by an optional audience participation segment completing the afternoon. Local improvisors are encouraged to bring along their own instruments if they wish to participate.

Silence is located at 46 Essex St, Guelph and Tickets will be on sale for $15 at the door for each concert. More info at: http://www.silencesounds.ca.
