The Toronto Argonauts will be holding their training camp at the University of Guelph.

A source close to the negotiations said the deal has been finalized that will see the Argos hold a month-long camp at the U of G starting in late May.

Scott McRoberts, the University of Guelph’s Director of Athletics, would not specifically confirm a deal had been done but said there was an announcement and press conference scheduled for Tuesday.

“Tomorrow morning there will be an announcement made about the relationship between the U of G and the Argonauts and at 1 p.m. there will be a press conference involving Argo’s general manager Jim Barker,” McRoberts said when reached by phone Monday.

Reached by e-mail, Argonauts’ director of communications Anton Bennett said “we should have a decision as to where we will host our 2016 training camp this week.”

Rumours had been swirling that the Argos were considering moving their camp to Guelph after holding it at York University for the past two years.

The  Argos will use the school’s residence to billet players, the school’s food services to feed them and provide the use of all their athletic facilities for the duration of the camp.

The Argos previously held their training camp at the U of G in the early 1990s.

Training camp opens the last week of May and the first regular season game for the team is June 23. They play an exhibition game at BMO Field in Toronto on June 11.
