Guelph Lake legend beats Jessey The Elf at triathlon (15 photos)

Event attracts over 400 competitors

It was just like old times Saturday at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area as Len Gushe of Mattawa won the Guelph Two triathlon meet’s sprint triathlon.

It was the eighth time Gushe won the annual Labour Day weekend event, but the first time since 2011 as he stepped away from the sport for five years due to work commitments.

Gushe won in one hour, 26 minutes and 8.2 seconds to edge University of Guelph graduate Jessey The Elf of Waterdown by 12.7 seconds.

Jessey The Elf is the athlete's legal name, having changed it a number of years ago. He also had surgery to make the tips of his years more pointed.

Top female finisher was Sharon Gallant-Pierce of Hamilton who was 24th overall of the 399 finishers.
